Applications now accepted for TSTA’s National Board Systems of Support Cohort, must apply by June 1

Only 30 candidates will be selected for this valuable learning opportunity for teachers pursuing National Board certification. This National Board Systems of Support Cohort will provide selected teachers an in-person introductory workshop this summer, two years of structured support, one-on-one mentoring and the opportunity to collaborate with other teacher candidates going through the National Board process.

Selected candidates will meet in-person at TSTA headquarters in Austin July 16-19 for an introductory workshop, the Jump Start Summer Intensive. The cohort will then have several virtual meetings over two years with National Board facilitators to work collaboratively toward becoming National Board certified.

Participants will study topics such as the five core propositions for accomplished teaching, the different types of writing required for National Board submissions, how to successfully create teaching videos and how to analyze student work. Participants will also have 10 hours of one-on-one support with National Board mentors.

Participation will be free for TSTA members, including travel and as much as $500 in lodging costs for the four-day introductory workshop at TSTA headquarters in Austin.

Teachers who are not TSTA members are invited to attend the Jump Start introductory session, one year of virtual cohort meetings and writing workshops for a fee of $1,000. A second year of virtual cohort meetings and writing workshops is optional for an additional $500. Non-TSTA members will not have access to a mentor and must cover all travel and lodging expenses for the Jump Start introductory meeting. Contact Carrie Griffith for more information.

Candidates must apply by June 1. All eligible applicants will participate in a short interview. The 30 selected candidates will be notified of their acceptance on or before June 10. APPLY HERE.
