NEA Representative Assembly

The 2019 NEA Representative Assembly takes place July 4-7 in Houston, TX, with preconvention events taking place July 3, and the Representative Assembly commencing on July 4. Please visit for information and updates regarding the Texas Caucus Meeting and the Representative Assembly, including the Texas Delegate uniform, PAC, pre-convention events, and local points of interest.

The RA is the largest democratic deliberative assembly in the world. It is the primary legislative and policymaking body of the Association and derives its powers from, and is responsible to, the membership. The Representative Assembly adopts the strategic plan and budget, resolutions, the Legislative Program, and other policies of the Association. Call for Volunteers

Texas is hosting the RA this year, and we need to gather about 300 volunteers to pull off this incredible national event! If you or someone you know is not attending the convention as a delegate and would like to volunteer, please follow this link to our volunteer intake form: We’re looking for volunteers aged 15 and up. You will receive a $40 stipend for every day worked, on top of breakfast and lunch. You will also be reimbursed for parking and tolls, and potentially public transportation. Texas Lodging

The official hotel for the Texas Delegation is the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria. The room rate per night is $149 single/double occupancy, plus taxes and fees (currently 14.275%). All hotel reservations must be reserved through TSTA.

The deadline to submit your reservation to TSTA is May 15, 2019. All rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and completed reservation forms MUST include the first night’s deposit. Lodging requests can be made either by filling out the form printed in the Spring Advocate or by filling out the following lodging request form:
